I created a mold that represented a Kina (or sea urchin shell) with the view of insetting it into some sculptures. This was my first crack at it. I was fairly pleased with the results and this subsequently lead to the Kina Lens series.

The colouring is an iron oxide and burnt umber mixture buffed back to reveal the raw clay.
