Combat Goblet Variation

How does one make a goblet that cannot be put down if full? Easy, don't make a foot. Thus, this design was created. Of course this did pose a number of problems when doing the glaze firing because it had to be fired upright to ensure the glaze within the cup pooled in the right place. To achieve this, a significant rig had to be constructed from kiln stilts and bits of broken kiln shelf to support the bowl so that the handle/ stem could hang freely.

I was able to get it fired successfully and was pretty pleased with the look of the thing.

The goblet is about 350mm long.
