Le Tue 30 October 2018
This project is another development in a very long interest in models (and real vehicles) that are a hybrid between cars and locomotives. This 3D printed model is a chassis that can be fitted to 1:24 scale car models.

Le Mon 02 October 2017
I have in mind a couple of projects to create some kit-bashed railway vehicles based on Maisto die cast models. Two 3D printed bogie sets are described here as stand-alone models that can be adapted to any 1:24 scale model or in the case of the narrow gauge bogie model, a rail vehicle that is compatibile with my mine trolley and mine truck designs.

Le Sun 17 September 2017
After making several of the previous Mine Trucks, I decided that putting the buffers together was pretty tedious. There was also the risk of the axles not being aligned aligned too well when using the seperate side components. So the solution was to modify the design slightly so the buffers were printed as a single piece as were the two side panels with the axle end sockets. This page is just a description of the modified design and the new model download links.

Le Sun 20 August 2017
I enjoyed the Mine Trolley Prop project a great deal, so I was keen to make some more things in the same style. This mine truck is the result. It is a 3D printed chassis that can be used for any type of rail mounted truck or wagon. The gauge is the same as the Mine Trolley Prop.

Think Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Hoodwinked, and maybe some spy vs spy and you have an idea of what I have in mind for this model. It is predominantly 3D printed but the top "crate" was made with iceblock sticks.

Le Fri 15 July 2016
OK, so you have bricked your XYZ Printing Da Vinci 3D printer. Don't be down-hearted. Rejoice! Now you have a chance to turn it into something much more versatile. This article describes what I did to convert a stuffed Da Vinci printer to run on a RAMPS controller and thereby safe it from the eWaste stream. You will find the firmware I used together with the 3D printed components I designed to hold the new stuff in place.

Le Wed 16 March 2016
A while ago I posted an article describing a Camera slide constructed from the bits of a discontinued 3DPrinter project I was working on. It worked, but not very well. So I set about redesiging it with some other ex-3DPrinter bits and using a completely different approach. This new design uses a pulley around which a string or cord could be wrapped. This allows the CameraSlide traveller to winch itself along smoothly and easily. It is also less inclined to jam because the pulley is centrally located and allows the traveller to better follow the tracks.

Le Thu 02 July 2015
This is what happens to 3D Printer building projects that become too much of a drag. This timelapse camera slide was created using a whole heap of 3D printed bits that I had made for a 3D printer that I had designed. The camera rig controller is a RAMPS / Arduino Mega combination that would normally drive a Reprap style 3D printer. It is a relatively simple build and other than the 3D printed parts makes use of commonly available materials and components. The code provided can easily be modified for an Arduino UNO or Nano running a single stepper motor driver board such as an Easydriver or a Pololu board. there are some projects that just develop fast and easily - this was one of them.
